Sunday Contest: Go Nordic Fishing
There has been a lot of confusion about this years race: Our apologies. The course will be the same as last year, with 15 and 30K skate options. Come challenge yourself and join us for one of the toughest races in the west. This years give- away will be an apron that can be used in the kitchen or the wax room, with our new logo.
We have also added an event on Sunday that could be a great recovery workout or an event in and of itself. It will be a "poker run" requiring a couple of kilometers of skiing at each local venue and ending at Jug mountain's lodge for soup and sandwiches and some great prizes. Some of the best prizes will be saved for this event so come out and enjoy yourself, recover, and win something!
RACE LOCATIONS:
15K and 30K – Bear Basin – start time 9:30am
Junior Races -12:30pm- Little Ski Hill
Poker run: pick up first card at the Little ski Hill at 10:00am, visit each ski venue for a few K of skiing, end at Jug mountain for food and prizes.
RACER AGES:
J1 racers must enter the 20K
(either classic or skate) Birth year 1992-1995
J2 racers must enter the 5K event –birth years 1996-1997
J3, J4, must enter the 2.5K event -birth years for J4-2000-2001
And J3-1998-1999
J5 racers must enter the 1K event- birth years 2002 +
Adults must enter the 20K
These race distances have been determined by the USSA to be appropriate distances for the designated ages and will be strictly adhered to.
AWARDS: All awards for the 15 and 30 K race will begin at 4pm at one of the local restaurants. Awards will be given in five year age groups for the 15 and 30K . There will also be awards for each JO classification. Age groups are determined by year of birth only (as per USSA rules)
POST RACE FOOD: There will be cookies, oranges, Gatorade and water will be at the finish line, and beer and food will be available at the awards ceremony.
TRANSPORTATION: Buses will run continuously from The Little Ski Hill Lodge to Little Bear Basin, starting at 8:00 am and continuing till 1:30pm. There will be no parking at Little Bear Basin so time your arrival at the Little Ski Hill appropriately. The trip from the Little Hill to Bear Basin only takes about 5 minutes, so no one should have to wait very long.REGISTRATION: Register online (see link at the top of this page) until midnight February 24th . Registration fee for the 15 and 30K is $50.00 until midnight of the 18th. After the 18th, registration is 60$. Registration will be open at the Gravity Sports, from 4-8pm on Friday evening the 24th, and at the Little Ski Hill Lodge from 8-9am on the morning of the race. At these times, registration will be $60.00. Registration for the Juniors races will be $7.00.
PACKET PICKUP: For those registered online, packet pickup will be at the registration areas listed above: Gravity Sports on Friday night, 4-8pm, and the Little Ski Hill Lodge on Saturday morning starting at 8am. Packet pickup for the poker run will start at 9:30 on Sunday the 26th.
